As a ceramic artist I create functional ware that is intended to convey a feeling of warmth and elegance. I love creating articles which carry visual appeal coupled with a high degree of usefulness.
Clay draws me into conversation, and through my use of different clay bodies, and varying types of firings the clay evolves into its end product. My choice of stoneware, translucent porcelain, and/or agate clay coupled with the use of an electric kiln, gas kiln, wood fire kiln, or soda kiln aids to infuse different qualities into my work. My use of throwing, carving, and manipulating the clay allows me to push myself and the medium to its desired appearance while maintaining its tried and true function.
